It really is all about that #love

I am not your typical sappy “love” girl. I never have been but I recently just had a give-a-way for our jewels and instead of asking our girls to comment on our baubles, I asked them to comment on “what love means to them?”.

163363-A-True-Love-Story

Whoa, the responses were incredible and really gave me food for thought…

Does love really fuel us that much?

Are we really so accustomed to cynicism and heartache that love is an undertone?

Well, here is my personal thoughts on “love” and what it means to me;

“For me, love is an uncontrollable emotion that leaves you still in thought, manic with crave but even more so, endless with forgiveness. What we love will always let you down at some point. Why? Because we are human. But it is your willingness to survive the hurt to believe in love that makes a truly soulful heart and a soul mate forever. I believe that “love” is the most powerful emotional known to man.”

I could write a book on this but you have to read the beautiful comments made by just wonderful people…

Christina Elizabeth Karsoyan-  Love means, something you really care about and your love is unconditional to them you love that something so much you can’t even express how you feel. I love someone, and that’s everybody. So love for me means your emotions for them or whoever is unconditional.

Bre Barton Love is laughing together and not always having to be right.

Nancy P. Torres Love is what keeps me going daily, the driving force behind my intentions and actions and the answers to life’s toughest questions. Its meaning is multifaceted, changing with each circumstance and evolving with time and growth. It is the constant exchange of allowing others to come into our lives, break down our walls and evaluate what place they have in our hearts. Love is worth every sacrifice.

Due to his uncertainty of wanting kids he left me and now I’m forced to move on and pick up the pieces of my life. I still love him and his decision hurts but if he’s not happy I have to respect his decision and be happy that he was honest enough to not lead me on any further. Lindsey Brianne Love is not looking for perfection in another person. If you truly love someone you look past their flaws and accept them for who they are. You never want to change someone if you truly love them. Love is when you feel completely comfortable around them and they are the first person you want to tell something to. They are the first person you think of when you wake up and go to sleep. But in order to love someone else, you have to love yourself first.

Britney Johnson Love means accepting another person in the strongest way possible. It means supporting them in anything and everything, even when you may not agree on the situation.

Love means not looking for something better or seeing what’s out there. It means committing to that person because you know they complete you in every way. It doesn’t mean being a replica of another person, but rather being like a puzzle piece that fits perfectly with the other. Your traits complement each other to create better versions of you both.

Love means waking up early and whipping up pancakes in the morning just to show you care. It means going out of your way to make them smile and, without even thinking about it, dropping everything for them in those times when smiles aren’t appropriate.

Love means screaming at the top of your lungs sometimes. It means caring so damn much about that other person that you can’t help but become furious when your relationship is called into question. It means fighting to get it back.

Love is indescribable. It’s everything and nothing at the same time. Love is what feeds my soul.

Bre Barton 💕love is caring more for someone else and their happiness than yourself. It’s the simple acts, getting dressed in the dark so you don’t wake your spouse, or picking up their favorite dessert on the way home just because, and not always having to be right. It’s those everyday simple things that help form, grow and deepen love and help it last!

Love is someone who stands unwaveringly by your side for 10 years 8 months and 11 days; and marries his high school sweetheart on the 12th day. Love is 10 years, 8 months and 12 days of ups and downs that’s triumphed by love, commitment and respect. Love is our journey; my high school sweetheart, best friend, and now husband as of March 7, 2015.

Love can mean anything… A person, a place, or a thing. To me love is a person, place and a thing. Wherever my love goes I follow it, my heart knows nothing more. 162945-I-ll-Be-In-Your-Heart

Mercedes Patterson What love means to me? I simply feel that love is, kind, humble and peaceful. Being kind and humble I feel brings love to one another. This is a kind of love that you don’t need to spend years with people, or even know them for that matter. But what a simple “I thought about you” or “Good Morning” can warm, and bring a sense of peace to the heart!

Love is about my family & being with my husband any chance we get. Being in the military, he will miss our daughter’s milestones, our birthdays, holidays, etc. Love is reassuring him I will still be here every time he returns, just like I promised!

Erica Lake Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. 1Corinthians 13:7-8

Morgan Morton Love is the best feeling in the world. It’s about giving your all and not expecting anything back. Having butterflies every time you think of that special someone, being child or spouse. You will never forget what it feels like or lose hope. It’s amazing!!!

Heather Welsh-Brockett Love is my beautiful children… The strength of my parents from above giving me the courage to go out each day and never give up hope that peace and love will surround my babies and I… I am truly humbled every day by what I get back

Eliza Marie Esparza To me… Love is conquering everything out there that attacks a relationship. Whether it’s with your children, spouse, friends, or family. Love is seeing beyond the past of one another and loving each other with all flaws anyway. Love is picking up each other’s broken pieces and renewing the heart as a whole designing it to be stronger and doing everything in your power to stay in a person’s life. Love is waking up at 3 in the morning thinking about that special someone even if they’re right by your side. Love is putting that one person before anything and everyone else. Love is whatever makes you keep going; makes you feel confident, beautiful, joyful, and strong… Powerful… Complete. Love may make you do stupid things sometimes, but for the most part, love gives you the drive to wake up every morning and want to be and do better. It makes you want to shoot towards success with your every dying breath. Love is certainly a necessity to everyone, for it can keep even the most sad person going and it can change lives in incredible ways! Love is more than just a feeling.. It is a lifestyle.

Sarah Richey 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
This is what love means to me!

163325-The-Little-Things

Adina Catherine Love is knowing your pregnancy would be complicated with twins in the same sac n placenta .love is knowing 50/50 chance you’ll get to hold your babies ..love is not knowing day-to-day if your premie 2#12oz and 3#6oz babies will be in the hospital for a while 45 and 110 days exactly..love is

Susan Paolucci Musetti Love is my husband working his but off to support his kids and I then coming home late and still taking care of me without complaint. I have MS and have very limited mobility and use if my hands and my husband picks up the slack without a complaint. That’s love.

Angela Milam Acceptance

Britney Johnson Love is complete acceptance: When we allow someone to be exactly as they are, without any belief that they aren’t good enough, without any belief that they would be “better” if they were different, this is love.

Love is completely unconditional: Love has no conditions. When we truly love someone, we can’t stop loving them, regardless of what they do or say. If our love is dependent upon the other person acting and speaking how we want, then this love is completely conditional. We often confuse this to be love, but this is just positive thoughts about someone. This is just loving what a person says or does, not loving them. Positive thoughts or the thought “I love you” isn’t necessary to love. Sometimes it even gets in the way.

Love is selfless: True love doesn’t want anything in return, because there is nothing it needs. We just love for the sake of love. When we love someone, we don’t look for them to fill our needs, love us back, and all those types of things. If that is what we are looking for, then we are just using the other person. What is the meaning of love? Love is completely selfless
Love comes in many different forms ♡

Angel Lynn Love to me is honesty and loyalty. It’s a pure feeling that can not be misunderstood. When you have love you have the beauty of knowing what true happiness is. GRAY IS THE NEW BEIGE!

beige
bāZH
noun
  1. a pale sandy yellowish-brown color.
    “tones of beige and green”
synonyms: fawn, pale brown, sand, buff, sandy, oatmeal, khaki, biscuit, coffee, coffee-colored, cafe au lait, camel, ecru

Is anyone else tired of this lack-luster, mind-numbing color we call beige? I know I am and I am ready for the HOTTEST color this year…GRAY! Gray is such a versatile color and has a wide range of hues, shades, and tones that create different sensations within a space. Gray can be used to create a glamorous, calming, or edgy space. The wide range of warm and cool grays compliment beautiful colors such as blush, yellow, red, white (some of my favorites). It can be used in a classic, transitional, or modern design! What do you think about gray? Check out some of these spaces that incorporated gray into there space. unnamed unnamed (11) unnamed (10) unnamed (9) unnamed (8) unnamed (7) unnamed (6) unnamed (5) unnamed (4) unnamed (3) unnamed (2) Xo, Jessica Calkins Definition provided by Google

OUT with the OLD & IN with the NEW 2015 DESIGN TRENDS

It is time to ring in the New Year with our favorite 2015 interior design trends! What better time to change up your living space than January 1st, 2015. Maybe you have been thinking about giving your home a “spacelift.” Let’s start this New Year off right and get our living spaces in check, so that we can accomplish our personal goals this year!

This year we are going to see a lot of change in color, texture, and pattern. But before we talk about what trends are knocking on our front door, let’s talk about those 2014 design trends that are on their way OUT the back door.

1. Honey toned woods. Elle Décor predicted that these light, honey toned woods, would leave us feeling “fresh”. If what they meant by “fresh” was dull, then they were right.

honey

2. Pastels. As Christos Prevenzanos, LA Interior Designer, said in 2014, using pastels in a living space is a “Monet meets Molly Ringwald” combo. First of all, if you had to google her name to find out who she is, she is probably not the best to compare to a design trend. Once you do google “Molly Ringwald” you’ll see the last TV/film that she was in was “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” Enough said.

pastels

3. Hair & Hide. Somehow, we have let animal fur and skin crawl onto our living room floors, sit in our chairs, and hang on our walls. I remember my Grandfather hanging his kill on the wall 20 years ago and thinking it was cool. According to CNN, we can’t even trust that the “faux” fur is even fake anymore. Apparently it is less expensive to use rabbit hair than to manufacture the hair. Animal Rights aside, I think it is safe to say that you can store the cow hide area rugs for the Ice Age.

cow

4. Overstuffed Sofas & Beds. Personally, I am sad to see this trend go this year as I was obsessed with throw pillows. Ask my fiancé! Every trip to target or home goods was an excuse to buy more throw pillows. However, this year is all about simplicity. One or two pillows on the sofa is not overwhelming, but the unwarranted mountain of down and feathers incased within a pretty fabric, is just too much for 2015 to handle.

pillows

5. Keep Calm & Carry On. This is BY FAR my favorite trend of 2014 to kick in the ass! (Excuse my French!) But I can’t handle it anymore and neither can 2015. These tacky signs that remind us every day to keep our cool remind me of my fiancé telling me to calm down when we are arguing. Don’t ever tell a woman to calm down! Instead of these unappealing signs, put up a real piece of art. DIY Project!

keep calm

Check back tomorrow to find out what trends are taking these suckers place…

Thought Catalog: On Being Happy

f3fa3f36addbfbef6695c23d1313004bEverybody has their morning agenda, and by that, I mean the things that you do without even realizing it. For instance. Every morning when my eyes open from a long night sleep, I click snooze on my phone exactly three times before I realize that I need to be an actual human being and do actual human being things.

I sit up, let me feet dangle over the bed while I gather my surroundings, because lord knows I am still half asleep from my rough night of studying and writing silly papers for silly college. Once my surroundings are a bit in place, I take that first eager yet still a bit hesitant, step. I make my way to the bathroom, tripping over a couple of shoes on the way, and YOWWW, who put those heels there? Once I make it to the bathroom I examine myself in the mirror and shake my head because I forgot to wash my makeup off from the night before AGAIN! Why do I always do this? Laziness at its finest people. I wipe off the mascara and the eyeliner, brush my teeth for two minutes, gargle some mouthwash, and here is where it gets interesting. I put the water in the facet on the coldest it could possibly get. I wait for it to get to maximum coldness so I put the toilet seat down and sit, and wait, and sit and wait. Once I think the water is as cold as possible, I form my hands into a makeshift bowl and go to town. I think I throw water on my face about ten times before the job of waking up is really done. The makeup is gone, the eyes aren’t puffy, and best of all, the color is back in my cheeks. There she is. There is Haley. Then, I make my way back to my room, turn on my curling iron, and while that is heating up, I make a cup of coffee.

I am very particular about my coffee, as I am sure most everyone is. My mother got me hooked sophomore year of high school, and I have been a goner ever since. And as I sit here writing this, I am thinking to myself, “Why in the hell would you brush your teeth and then drink coffee?” Oh gosh, that just is silly. I really need to rethink my morning rituals.

Like I said, coffee. Drinking coffee. I love Hazelnut creamer, so after the coffee is done brewing I poor the creamer in for exactly three seconds. 1 mississippi 2 mississippi 3 mississippi. And there you have it. A lot of creamer and a little coffee.

I come back upstairs, coffee in hand, and go to my favorite website. Thought Catalog. Oh, how I love this site.

“Launched 1 February 2010, Thought Catalog is a website dedicated to your stories and ideas”

Thought Catalog is a blog site where many different people can put their thoughts into words, and share those words with the world.

It is an amazing idea, and that is why I read it each and every day.

Many of the posts are funny, fun loving, thoughtful, and just downright weird. But many make you think. And that is what I really love.

So today, like many other days, I am skimming through the blogs when I come across a title that stands out to me.

“How to Not Be Terrified of Being Happy”

The author speaks of happiness being this utopia, or this mystical world that  nobody truly understands the concept of. That somehow, some shape or form, we are always trying to do better than we already have. That we cant stop moving or doing more because things will just fall apart, “like a house of cards”.

Instead of being happy for the things that are going well in our lives, many of us worry about when it will be taken from us, like a game of hide and seek.

I have this problem where sometimes I feel like I do not deserve to be happy. That the people around me deserve better. Because of that feeling, I have a lot of anxiety. Anxiety about life, relationships, friendships, family, school. Everything scares me. It doesn’t mean I stop going about my daily routine, but sometimes I think that I don’t take things for what they are. I over think. “Things are amazing now, but that wont last.”

You may get your heart broken.

People may not like you.

You might not get your dream job.

You might upset your loved ones.

But that will pass, and you will once again, be happy.

“Avoiding happiness just so you can avoid the sting of eventually losing it will ruin you.”

Periods of Joy

Periods of Difficulty

Periods of Love

Periods of Heartbreak

I do not think I have ever read something that has hit so close to home for me. You can learn so much from a 500 word blog. I hope that one day I can meet the writer and thank them for opening my eyes to a world that can be full of happiness and love.

So. Morning rituals can be robotic, and boring, and annoying, but this particular morning, it was a great one.

Ceramic Mechanic

d1f7f2a34fbd3ac74c27d5f65db9e5bc

Over Thanksgiving break, while I was visiting my boyfriend, we had the pleasure of meeting this older man who worked at an impound lot in Jersey. The man looked like he lived and breathed cars, and he spoke of an old 150 that he was fixing up for a friend to drive. He smelled of grease and looked very tired, but he had the sweetest smile, and the warmest of personalities. When we walked into his garage to make our payment and get on our way, it seemed as though it was their as his hideaway. See, there was the main lobby where most everyone worked, but he was in the back, where he kept all his tools and work equipment for his job. So here we were, thinking we were going to be paying our bill and going on our way. But as we got further into the garage, I started noticing all this clay and what seemed to be plasterwork on the walls. They were absolutely beautiful, so I asked him where he got them.

It was like the air in the room changed, and something kicked in, because the man grew a couple inches taller, the color in his cheeks came out, and his crooked smile went from cheek to cheek. He popped up from his dusty desk filled high with paper work, and ran over to me. And this is where his two hour artwork rant began. I have never seen anything as special as what I saw in that garage. He went through each and every one of his boxes, which by the way were covered in dust, so I knew he didn’t bring his work out for a while. He pulled out all his favorite pieces that he has ever done, from vases, to jewelry, to finally the plaster artwork on the walls. This guy was really something.

I don’t think it was the talent though that really stuck out to me. This man, who seemed to have been through a lot in his life, had stories for each piece of work. He had reasons, and I think that is really beautiful. I could tell that each time he showed me something else; his eyes would light up, like this was something that truly made him happy. He spoke that ceramics and artwork such as the pieces that he has done, has really helped him become the person he is today. I couldn’t help but think, “What has this man been through?” I kept looking at my boyfriend to see if he was feeling the same way I was. It wasn’t that he was so talented, it was that I couldn’t believe that this man, who has been through so much, can still be so passionate about something. I am envious of people who can put aside all of life’s obstacles, and continue to do something that makes them happy.

I learned something very valuable that day. That life most likely will get rough at times, but to always continue staying positive, have compassion, and be passionate about something. Whether it be a sport, singing, family, or ceramics; stay passionate, because that might be the last thing keeping you going.

I sit here typing away with a smile on my face because all I want to do is go back to that day. We left not only having met an incredible man, but he also gave us both bracelets and me a piece of his artwork from the walls.
