On My Way Down the Aisle: Bridesmaids Dresses

Thinking about walking down the aisle to marry my best friend, is quite nerve racking. I’m sure there are a lot of girls out there that feel the same way. Every time I think about each step I will make towards Matt, my eyes start to tear up. When the song that Matt and I chose to walk down the aisle to plays on my Pandora Station at work, my eyes start to tear up. When I think about my Daddy walking me down the aisle arm and arm, my eyes start to tear up. But the one thing that I am excited about is having my best girlfriends stand by me while I make the biggest decision of my life, my bridesmaids.

My bridesmaids Mary, Samantha, Adrienne, Delaney, and Kristin will stand by my side on September 13th this year and I could not feel more blessed to have them a part of my wedding. Something that we are all excited about are the bridesmaid dresses! After choosing my dress, it’s now time for us to shop for them… Bridesmaid dresses should never upstage a bride, but enhance the brides dress and the theme of the wedding. There are different paths you can take when choosing the dresses.

Figure out everyone’s budget for the dress. Nowadays, you can either BUY or RENT a dress. One of my favorite websites for Buying or Renting a dress is littleborroweddress.com! They offer a bunch of styles of dresses in different colors. Because the shop is online, they will send you fabric swatches to make sure that you are satisfied with the color. Perfect! Once you buy or rent the dress, they send you two sizes in case the other does not quite fit! Little Borrowed Dress takes the guess factor out of purchasing a dress online.

Same dress, same color. This is the traditional bridesmaid dress scenario. The style and the color of the dresses are the same. Usually, the bride will chose the dress and whether you love or hate the dress does not matter! You would wear anything to make your bride happy!

(This obviously isn’t a picture of bridesmaids but flower girls! My sister (Samantha) and I are leading the flower girl line! Thought it was too cute not to put in this post! Still shows the same dress, same color concept!)

Same dress, different color. This is another bridesmaid dress scenario that is a bit of a twist of the traditional same dress, same color. This could either be a hit or a miss. If you are not careful with the colors you chose, there will not be any sense of consistency in your wedding photos. However, if you can pull this off, your wedding photos will be creative and fun! One of my favorite themes for same style with different colors is pastels.

This is a photo from my friend Adrienne’s wedding with her two bridesmaids my sister and I! Different dress, same color! Adorable…

Different dress, different color. This could also be a hit or miss. I was a bridesmaid in my friend Kristin’s wedding and she could not have pulled it off more beautifully! Her colors were a champagne/blush theme. The different shades and styles of dresses created a bohemian/eclectic look. Each bridesmaid felt comfortable in her dress, considering we all got to pick our dresses!

This photo, shot by Kati Rosado, is a PERFECT example of how to accomplish the different dress, different color deal! Well done, Kristin! ❤

I love each of these options for Bridesmaid Dress shopping! My favorite is probably the different styles of dresses with different shades of the color of your wedding…I might steal that from you Kristin ;).

Have you just ever felt like this?

We all have days where we feel like the world is caving in on us, don’t we?  Sometimes,  I feel like I am the only one. To be honest, usually I am “happy-go-lucky” all the time. In fact, my husband always looks at me in times of trouble and says “you just don’t have a care in the world”!  Always perplexed with him looking at me like that, I just node, laugh and say no! I have always looked at things as if they were meant to happen and it is all in how you handle it. I am very good under pressure, I always have been but this week, I just want to pull my hair out.

Here, let me explain…

1. Leaving a house I grew up in since I was a child.

 2. Being self-employed, the bank is driving me crazy.

  3. A good friend will not speak to me and I don’t know

what I did?

4. My daughter is getting married…

5. Everyone wants something from me.

6. My house is a cluster f@%k with furniture, lighting

and accessories for the new house everywhere.

That is why I feel like this…

But…

Unknown-6

These are all the great things that come out of the bad…

1. My daughter and her fiancé are moving into the house I grew up in…

2. We are blessed beyond belief to have what we have…

3. Maybe that friend is not worth the aggregation if they

do not have the time or patience to explain why… a blessing in disguise…

4. My daughter is getting married to her perfect guy…

5. At least someone wants something from you and you are not alone…

6. Well, that I need a magic wand, it is still a cluster f@%k…

There is always a silver lining in life. Don’t forget to remember that when your hands are in your hair and you want to scream and hit your head against the wall:)

LOVE SUCKS!

Bare and Me

Ladies, sometimes relationships aren’t meant to work out.

Sometimes, you deserve more.

Sometimes, you overanalyze too much.

And sometimes, its just not meant to be.

Do not force something that isn’t supposed to happen.

What so many women (me included) fail to understand is that we should not be with someone who does not want to be with us. It really really sucks to know that someone isn’t as into you as you are into them, but why would you want to fake love? Yeah, it sucks.

Having said that. Stop wallowing in your heartbreak, Stop sleeping all day, and please please please…. STOP CRYING. Don’t waste those tears. The more you think about how hurt you are, the longer you remain damaged.

What to do instead? Have fun!

Go out with the friends that make you the happiest. Think about all the other things in your life that make…

Ashley Evert and Her Thoughts on “Beauty”

IMG_1496 copy

Beauty isn’t as simple as a shade of lipstick, a certain hair style or an expensive pair of shoes.  It is not an overly photoshopped unrealistic

“ideal woman”

on the front page of a magazine.

As a beautician, I see people’s “befores” and they expect me to be able to create an “after” that reflects the way they feel about themselves on the inside. For me, beauty is being able to outwardly portray the way you feel about yourself.

For me, that means a full face of makeup (lipstick, false eyelashes, the whole nine yards), rich crimson colored hair, and a wardrobe inspired by clothes from the 1940’s and 50’s.

The star sports athlete grinning with a medal around his or her neck, showing off the physique they worked hard to get is beauty.

A women who struggled with body confidence issues modeling in clothes she feels sexy in is beauty.  Ladies who choose to go “au natural” because they feel more comfortable without makeup on is beauty.

Beauty is recognizing that everyone should feel comfortable in his or her own skin.

True beauty is achieved when we stop judging each other for how we each choose to portray how we feel about ourselves to the world.

Fall C a n n o t Come S o o n Enough

I don’t know about all of you, but I cannot wait for the fall season to come! Not only is it not too cold, and of course, not too hot…but the colors are absolutely beautiful.

Fall fashion, in my opinion, is the best. You are at that in between mode where you can  switch it up with layers. Shorts and a sweater, jeans and a long sleeve shirt, boots, leggings…and best of all, no puffy jackets. My favorite things to wear are oversized sweaters because not only are they super conformable, but they are really adorable, and can be dressed up or dressed down.

You can take a simple sweater and dress it up by putting on some black skinny jeans, heels, and a statement necklace. For a completely different occasion, you can take that same sweater, and pair it with some leggings and ked sneakers for a more conformable look!

Here are some examples to show you exactly what I mean!

In this first picture we have a girl wearing some leggings with an oversized sweater for a more casual look. As you can see, the outfit is still adorable but completely comfortable.

In the next picture, you will see a sweater that is close to the same style as the one above, dressed up with some leather leggings, and some booties! I absolutely love this sassy yet comfortable outfit for a night out with the girls.
