Musical Clarity

Have you ever listened to song and gotten so lost in the lyrics that for a moment you take a step away from reality and just think? Think about it. There has to be that one song that brings back feelings from a past relationship, a family member, and things about yourself that you never really wanted to think about again. It is like you hate it but you cannot stop thinking about it because it is so captivating in itself, but it also is a reminder of what had once been such a big or important part of your life.

Music has always been a huge part of my life, so I may be a little bit biased about this one post, but I believe that a good song, or a good piece of music, can always hit you a certain way. It can make you happy, sad, confused, liberated, determined, and scared. Music can be taken so many different ways, and that decision is truly in the hands of the audience.

Picture this. You are in a crowded room and everyone is talking about unimportant things like the “he said, she said” dramatic tangents that have so easily taken control of almost all conversations. You cannot stand the thought of being interested in these conversations, but you aren’t really sure how to get away from them. You walk away but somehow these conversations seem to be stuck in your mind, and you feel like the walls are caving in on you. As you start getting aggravated and slightly paranoid, you realize that you have your earphones in your pocket of your jacket that in a way seems to be suffocating you. You take them out and you put on your favorite song. This song helps you to get away from what is making you feel so disgusted. It takes you away from the reality of the situation and you can finally just think.

Music, as silly as this may sound, is the saving grace in many peoples lives. How can one not fully appreciate music. It has so many different emotions in just 3 minutes and a couple verses. It tells a story, whether it be about love, triumph, sadness, and loss. A song is equivalent to a 500 page book, in my eyes. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end, and somewhere in all that mix you get lost in something so much bigger.

Music is a dance party, a cry session, and everything in between. It is about love, heartbreak, and some points…drinking a beer and riding that big green tractor.

Music is a message sent out to masses, and I think that’s beautiful.
